21ST CENTURY DEMOCRACY PRACTICE IN NIGERIA

21ST CENTURY DEMOCRACY PRACTICE IN NIGERIA: A DISAPPOINTMENT TO THOSE WHO LAID THEIR LIVES FOR IT PROSPERITY, WERE WE GOT IT WRONG.

The 21st century Nigerian Democracy practice is a total dissatisfaction to those who fought and sacrificed their lives for a dream future Nigeria they all deemed. Going back to the history of how Azikwe, sardauna, tafawa, and others sacrificed everything for the independence and a full democracy practice in Nigeria would further buttress my point.

The Flagbearers of Nigeria's  independence leaders of all hadtheh same goal of seeing the betterment and prosperity of Nigeria, even when they were all having different political dimensions, that their national interest never got tainted. The 21st century democracy practice in Nigeria has taken a different and negative dimension, a total destruction to the structures put in place by our independence leaders and heroes.

Differences of political parties have plotted many devilish diseases in the minds of the leaders and the led of which the spirit of sacrifice and love for national interest in no more alive. One is ready to kill as many as possible for him to have his way, to sell out his people for political aspirations, even selling out the countries interest for a personal interest. we are witnessing a country were it leaders and the followera value  their personal and selfish interest more than the national interest. This acts of ours has led Nigeria and it's people into a point of dilemma, surrounded by unpatriotic traits and cultures.

A country like Nigeria should have been able to have outlive the contiguous insecurity problems, mother corruption, underdevelopement, unemployment etc, but it is quite unfortunate and remains unachievable as the leaders and both the led aren't ready for that change to occur.

The Nigeria of ours that salutes and awards public corrupted leaders, applauds and grant amnesty to political leaders who carted away public funds,  a country where senators, reps  received billions of nairas with nothing to show of development in their constituencies they represent. A nation that has destroyed it own legacies built by it's heroes with selfish interests.

As we mark today June 12  as the Nigerian democracy day, I humbly salute our heroes who have in one way or the other paid the supreme price of sacrificing their lives for a prosperous Nigeria they deemed for. It was a day like this that the most peaceful, free and fair election was conducted and won by the man who the cap fits; Chief MKO Abiola GCFR of blessed memory and his mandate was annulled by the babangida military regime without cogent reasons till date. His courage and and self esteem will forever be remembered along side all those who stood for democracy during that periods.

Arise, O Nigeria youths! it is high time we told ourselves the bitter truth and wake up from our slumber and political abracadabra, youths are the one's expected to take the lead for the betterment of Nigeria, but unfortunately we became the mechanism for destruction of our own futures.

We all have to take some precautionary steps when there are national issues, we all must come together as one with same goal to proffer solutions to it with immediate action, we must all think beyond politics for a  prosperous nation an act democratically!

God bless Nigeria
